December 31st

Happy new year everyone!

Wow, another year almost gone, and another coming soon. I hope you will have a fantastic new year and many blessings in the years to come. :)

I have not forgot about my promise... Just as soon as I can take pictures of the piratey gown, I will post! :P

I'll end the year with a poll:

What time period has your favorite style of clothing?
  1. Ancient Greece?
  2. Renaissance/Medieval?
  3. Colonial?
  4. Pioneer days?
  5. Victorian?
  6. 1900s?
Farewell for now,

PS: I've been very much into the making of "The Hobbit" lately, here is the official blog  (It has production videos which I love, and other things)

Until next year...

Okay, first off I would like to apologize about not doing a Movie Costume Monday this week...To be honest...it completely slipped my mind. ::Sheepish grin::

On another note: I will be travelling and will not be able to post until the new year, but I am planning to post about a certain white dress in a certain piraty movie shortly thereafter...;) Merry Christmas everyone!

Until next year,

Little Girl Fairy Gown

I designed/made this costume about two months ago with some gold fabric I had left over from a shawl for a formal event. My little sister loves how poofy this dress feels when it's worn. :)

I did the petals with some sheer very light pink fabric we had laying around...

It closes with a zipper in the back..

I did the straps with some gold ribbon...

It has two slightly smaller petals in the back...

A pic of the top of the Sheer pink petals...

And, last but now least, my favorite picture. <3

Movie Costume Monday

Hello everyone,
I got the idea for Movie Costume Monday from Brielle who gave me permission to do it also. :)

Today's movie costume comes from one of my favorite costumes from one of my favorite movies of all time... Eowyn's Victory gown from Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King...

*Pictures from www.costumersguide.com- go to her site to get larger pictures (If I make these any bigger they'd be blurry)

I also LOVE the robe she wears over the under-gown...

The front piece is also awesome...

Have a great Monday everyone!

Blue and Silver Princess

Hello everyone,

This is a dress that I designed and drafted for my little sister's birthday...

Sheer white ribbons "Poof" up the sides, or back of the dress, depending on where you place them.

In the next two pictures it has a slightly mermaid look to it. Color, and style.

Flared lower sleeves seems to be a favorite with little girls. :) (I especially like these, with the longer double-layer added)

Fidelia's white dress and red corset

Hello everyone,

This costume is one I designed (I drafted the dress myself and altered a pattern for the corset). This is the first costume my character (Fidelia) wears in the movie, and fits her personality perfectly I think. Simple, like her time-period (White flowing dress) but with her rather fiery personality incorporated  into that time ( The bright red corset and boots). Anyways, here it is...

Pieces:
White dress
Bright red corset
Pirate boots
And a belt (Not pictured)

The bottom of the corset comes to a graceful point in the middle, giving it a little more pirate-style.

The dress is slightly longer in the back.  I also purposefully gave this dress a large hem, to make it heavier at the bottom, thus allowing it to drape properly.

The sleeves are draw-string at the bottom, giving it a renaissance look to it, while also giving it some versatility.

I made the dress out of some heavy-ish soft white linen.

In the next picture you can see a little of the aging I gave it. (It will get more through the making of the movie)

Without the boots and the corset, and the sleeves undone, it makes a nice night-gown.

Welcome!

As you can see, this blog was just created. :)

I shall do my best to post regularly, and hopefully give some helpful tips to you on costume making. I realize I have quite a long way to go in becoming a experienced seamstress, but I'm quite willing to learn, and think it will be a fun journey to continue on. xD  So, feel free to add your thoughts and tips also.  :) I'd love to hear from you!
